If we are to reach the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals we have agreed to as a global community in 2015, enabling the next generation of innovators to work on the many solutions needed is key. Unintended Consequences of Technology:

sustainable brands

AI, automation, and gene editing raise questions about how the world will change and what unintended consequences of these technologies we may face. On June 4th, Innovation 4.4 participated in the closing keynote on this topic at the premier corporate sustainability conference, Sustainable Brands in Detroit. Curtis Brainard, Managing Editor of the Scientific American moderated the panel, with Hewlett Packard, BASF, and Bain contributing to this well received panel.

THIRD RISK AND VALUE CREATION FORUM HOSTED BY INNOVATION 4.4 AT THE EXPLORERS CLUB

NEW YORK, DECEMBER 12, 2018

The Third Risk and Value Creation Forum brought together family offices, researchers, investors, regulatory advocates,

startups, corporate leaders, and financial institutions, to present key practitioner insights

on emerging risk frameworks and risk assessment tools, as well as well as value creation opportunities

based on market intelligence.

According to leading endocrinologists, given the current levels of endocrine disruptors in our

environment, the human race will be unable to reproduce by 2060. The human fertility rate has dropped

by 50% from what it was in 1970. Man-made toxic chemicals, and in particular endocrine disruptors, are

a key threat to the survival of the human species.

Researchers have presented thorough and compelling evidence regarding the impact of endocrine

disruptors on human health and fertility. NGOs have raised awareness regarding the issue and its urgency.

Investors have used the shareholder advocacy mechanism to influence corporate behavior. Entrepreneurs

have commercialized safer alternative solutions that are gaining market share faster then conventional

solutions by double digits annually. Given the risk and value creation implications for investors, as well

as the urgency from a human health perspective in addressing this threat, the Third Risk and Value

Creation Forum was curated to enable Chief Investment Officers and Directors of Research of the key financial institutions and investment firms to make better investment decisions by providing insights regarding investment risk exposure to toxic chemicals in the supply chain and investment opportunities in companies that are providing alternative solutions.

Risk and Value Creation Forums, a project of Innovation 4.4, is global series of conferences focused on investment and finance. The conference offers thought-leadership and key practitioner insights into emerging risk frameworks and risk assessment tools, as well as value creation opportunities and market intelligence in finance and investment. Each conference brings together practitioners and speakers for a full day of curated knowledge-sharing and collaboration, with the principle focus of understanding how a systems thinking approach to financial systems can better manage risk and deliver value.

MARKET INTEGRATION ROUND

USA, October 2016

Innovation 4.4 hosted a start-up showcase with 14 presenting start-ups in water, energy, materials science, health, selected for their alignment with the Innovation 4.4 mission. The 40 invited partners the start-ups pitched to included select financial institutions, corporate innovation labs, family offices, regional development agencies, cities, foundations, impact investors, NASA representatives, and the United Nations Climate Secretariat. The event yielded several collaborations for presenting start-ups – pilot projects, corporate partnerships, and investments. We also announced two partnerships at this event, with the New Organ Alliance and with THE HUS Institute.
